A soldier entered the tent with a missive in his hand. His armor was enameled an ebony black with a crimson crow in flight upon the breastplate. Saluting to Commander Veleraen he handed to missive to him and stood back in parade rest awaiting orders.
The missive read:
Secrets :
To: Sir Veleraen, Commander of the 2nd Regiment
From: Captain Tasad R'rowl Battlecrows Company Commander
Sir, below is a proposed revisement to the training schedule for my heavy infantry that we spoke of in our initial meeting. I have made some other minor adjustments which I think will ensure that my men are ready for battle as quickly as possible.
- At Dawn, each heavy infantry squad not on a regular scheduled watch or patrol will commence a morning five mile forced run, full pack.
- Upon returning, morning calisthenics will take place for one candlemarks.
-After morning exercise, men will be given a candlemark for their morning meals.
-After the men have finished eating, instruction will start. All squads will train for the next three candlemarks with five minute breaks every candlemark.
-After weapons training has finished, men will be allowed another candlemark for a mid brightening meal.
-After mid brightening meal, men will be send to their respective instructors to drill in formation, march. Each squad will be required to know how to construct a breastwork as well.
- Evening operations will be held at random with no advanced notice. Men must be able to muster at a moment's notice.
-Each company will be on sentry at least once during the darkening and each squad will be responsible for taking out patrols into the surrounding countryside. These drills are necessary and will be carried out through out the next two cycles.
-After evening meal, men will be led out on a five mile forced march and then ordered back to quarters.
- Curfew is at two candlemarks before mid darkening. All fires must be extinguished before this to conceal positions at night.
- At the end of each cycle the heavy infantry company will have a mock battle in full gear with weighted weapons and shields. Weapons will be sheathed and sealed to prevent injuries.
- At the end of the batte the heavy infantry company will be allowed one day at half duty, barring unseen circumstances.
The schedule above is very intensive but the heavy infantry usually fights intensive battels in war and must be able to meet the demands placed upon them. They will sweat a great deal now but will bleed a great deal less later. The one day at half duty allows my men time to recover from their training which will admittedly tire them over the cycle. They will still maitain sentry duty and the squad that does the worse in the mock battle will pull any patrols.
Also on a side note I have been able to get two hundred and fifty gladius short swords, plus some spares, to equip my men with. Zim Rage, in Taralon has agreed to exchange the longswords for the gladius. I will remind the commander at this time that I was told that I could do everything short of stealing to be able to equip my men with the weapons they needed. I expect the shipment to arrive late tommarrow afternoon in time for training. At which time we will simply ship the longswords back to the smith.
If there are any adjustments you wish made to my proposed training schedule I will implement them immediately, of course. And as you have probally guessed our company colors are ebony and crimson, with a crimson crow in flight upon our shields and breastplates. Our company name is, 'Battlecrows' Our guidon, or company flag will reflect this with the crimson crow on a field of black, with the company motto underneath stating,'We Hold True'

A rider arrived bringing a letter directly from Taralon. The man was weary and he had to sit after delivering the envelop in Veleraen's desk.

Serale, my friend. What we feared the most just happened. War has erupted in Sheria. This Brightening a handful of fishing boats arrived in Taralon bringing the survivors of the first Orcish attack. It seems the Horde moved to attack Peda. I am afraid that they may be moving in the direction of Taralon and knowing that our defensive lines aren't ready yet I will march to meet them and halt their advance. With me I will take the 9th and the 10th Legions and the 1st and 5th Regiments, the Navy will also assist us in this mission.
From this Brightening onsward you are the Defender of the Northern Front. All Regiments found between Draelmar Hold and the Training Fields are yours to command if the need arises. Find where the enemy dwells in the north and do whatever you can to weaken it, if you are completely sure that you can attack do so, distract the Horde and force them to remove troops from the north, luckily Autumnus will be found with less Orcs.
My army will follow the road from Taralon to Auster and from there to Hiems and finally Peda. I fear that not even the might of this army of twenty five thousand men will be enough to stop the tide, but let us think positive. I will see you soon, my friend.
Serale.

Sir, as I placed into the new training schedule, we will be having our first mock battle at the end of this cycle. If your schedule allows I would most greatly appreciate you to attend and see how the Battlecrows have progressed, and also to allow you to see how dedicated the men are to their training.
On a side note I am also looking around for elementalist to traing my men in at least some few basic spells. This would allow us to bring more harm to the enemy, and would greatly increase our effectiveness and the damage that we can do to the enemy.

Valence made his way to the Hold after he was given orders from the Daekin to meet Commander Veleraen. He was stopped at the gates and inspected. He was then told where to go from the gates. He made his way up to the building he waas told to go to. He opened the door and said "Commander Velaeren I have a note for you from Daekin Eyvind Redbeard Avornmagor Björnsson." He then handed it to who he assumed was Commander Veleraen. The letter read:
Quote:
Serale, my friend. Here I send you yet another soldier for the Heavy Infantry. It is your hands to choose in which unit to place him and what training to give, treat him like the others but keep and eye on him, he may have more in him than what we can see from the surface.
Signed, Eyvind Redbeard Avornmagor Björnsson, Commander of the Black Shields
Valence nearly jumped out of his skin when the giant appeared out of no where. He stammered when he looked at the giant and said "M...M.My name is Valence Fowle. I come from Trysvale and I own a farm there." He then looked around the tent trying to take in all of the details.
In the letter delivered by Valence, Sir Veleraen could read.

Valence looked at the giant and tried to calm down. He looked at the giant and said "Sorry sir it's that I have never seen a giant before." Valence smiled at the giant and said "I came from Trysvale to bring honor to my family and to Aslan sir." He responded to the last question with "Yes I wanted to smash me a few stinking orc skulls." He looked for a seat and said "May I have a seat sir?"
OOC: Hey Valence I'll be your new officer!!! When you finish with Veleraen create a new thread in the forum. Simply entitle it 'Valence joins the Battlecrows' and I'll post there as soon as I can. Your the only other PC in the company besides Tasad so we will do most of our interacting there. Feel free to start a thread as well where you meet your sqadmates. After you start that one I'll pop in once and do their races, personalities etc and then you can take it from there. One last things, set your CIR up asap. Most mods are requiring them now. If you need help trying to decide what to write simply click the link in mine or Veleraen's signature and it will show you what we have, and will also take you to where you can create yours.
Any questions or anything don't hesitate to pm me!! Look forward to playing with you!!
Once Valence noticed basically everything he gulped and loudly. He made a mental note that was 'Never become an Orc.' He then turned back to Veleraen and said "I plan on following those tenets too sir if I can." He then waited for the Giant to continue. Once he did Valence thought back to when he had to take care of Ren and the short man on his farm. He looked at the Giant and said "I have had some combat experience sir. I had to deal with some men on my property with a plank from a window and yes sir i am willing to get as much help as I can get."
