The druid smiled genially.
"Well, a golem-whacking stick. That does sound quite interesting; although I do hope we don't have to whack too many golems. Never a fan of the more violent soultion. I suppose I shall make preparations as well. Perhaps we should find a quieter area for the summoning, where we're unlikely to be disturbed."

Later: When preparations had been made, in a quieter locale.
"Let's begin then. That is, if there are no objections."
The druid closed his eyes, his hand dropping down to one of the carrots on his belt.
Drawing the shape of a parabolically-curved heptagon, the druid placed a carrot at each of the points. This done, the druid sprinkled a thin line of salt between each of the carrots; before curving the line out continously so the caster and any who chose to be with him were protected inside. Finally, a two oppositely aligned triangles, drawn in the salt-heavy-dust of arcanically imbued carrots. was sprinkled within the heptagon; with a small circle carefully drawn at the tip of the innermost triangle.
"Each of these points represents a plane of arcana. The unrepresented plane- that of nature- is the one whose spirit we invite to draw. If you've ever heard the phrase that nature abhors a vacuum, this is a somewhat more practical application. Whether the heptagon actually does anything specific is all quite up in the air- but a lot of magic is like that. Chunks of superstition surrounding actual practicalities... but no one knows quite what is needed and what isn't."
A smile, exposing his brilliant white teeth. He checked his preparations carefully.
"Obviously, something rather similar can be managed with standard arcana- but I do find this type of thing rather more fun; and drawing on diverse protections can only be a good thing."
A wave of his hand, as the druid closed his eyes allowed nature-plane essence to flow into him, binding with his substance/vis to form mana, which streamed out as he began performing the activation of the circle of magic bounded by the heptagon. Keeping the flow of energy going, the druid shaped the additional energy into a call for the local spirit of nature; a gesture of welcoming and offering of energy for a creature derived of both the natural and material planes that would draw it to the protected area of the circle and grant it solid form for communication. It was a technique the druid had performed many dozens of times before- it was as natural as breathing; and he would use all of his vast experience to ensure that this time it would again work correctly.

[Lyssoryl]

Lyssoryl replied with feeling "Oh, as to that, I quite agree. What breserker tendencies I might have are well under control. It's just that one can never trust a golem to be civil, and if worst comes to worst I should like a bit of wood to shove between me and them."

She watched Z'kron's work with great interest, being careful to stay within the circle and out of the way. She hoped that she would see the spirit too, and it wouldn't be invisible to non-druid eyes.

[Xyltha Thanole]

Xyltha kept his tongue. He was far too excited to even squeak in delight as the Druid went about his casting. It was obvious this spell was far out of this little elfling's league.

I wonder what spirits look like. Can we touch it, too? What kind of powers do they possess? Do they like carrots? and such questions shot through his mind in rapid-fire succession. Never to be answer, but always to be pondered on.

He likewise followed Lyssoryl's actions, and stayed away from the circle.

[Fish Stick]

As he began to summon the spirit, a green glow wrapped itself around the circle he created. The wind began to blow harder, and a crackle of energy could be felt through the ground. Above Z'kron, a small little orb began to form, a green hue and glow about it. Suddenly as it finished growing, it began whipping around wildly, and then settled down. "Who summoned me?" a voice could be heard in their heads. "And for what purpose?" asked the wisp...

[Z'kron]

"I and my comrades invited you, good spirit, bearing in mind the good relations druids and spirits of your kind often have and hoping to continue that relationship."
The druid gestured at the circle, indicating the carrots, which served much like ambrosia would in the summoning of a deceased-spirit. "Sustenance is provided; as is a common measure of respect in such matters."
We come to ask two questions; first, whether there is any assistance we can give to you; and secondly whether you can provide us with information on the goings on in a nearby building; one filled with mechanical men who seem to have gone wild. We were hoping if you could tell us if there had been anything you may have felt; such as the entrance of new spirits into your domain, or perhaps golems going rogue. "

[Lyssoryl]

Lyssoryl watched the peformance with wide-eyed wonder, her hand to her mouth. Fascinating, was all she was able to think for a moment. I wonder if carrots are enough, perhaps I should have baked a pie.

She repressed an urge to speak to the spirit herself. Best to let the professional handle it, she thought.

[Xyltha Thanole]

It took a while for the dumbstruck elfling to register the wisp's presence. As the wind heralded its arrival, Xyltha looked frantically around for the element to manifest - perhaps it would come crushing down on them like a ton of bricks, or even engulf them in its entirety with ferocious intent.

He was disappointed.

The wisp that hovered above the head of Z'kron looked like a little lost soul - not that the elfling had seen souls before. But he was expecting something grander. Ah well, a spirit was still a spirit of the land.

At least it was here.

Now he, along with Lyssoryl and Z'Kron awaited for the wisp's reply. What manner of mystery was behind the recent happenings would be unravelled in short order. Or so they all hoped.

[Fish Stick]

As the wisp spun around, it left a trail of green sparks behind it. Zipping too and fro, gaining energy from the ambrosia, it was almost ready to speak with Z'kron. "Creatures of darkness in the school of mechanics? What in heavens, i think there might be some rogue golem on the loose. Perhaps that is your problem, or the problem i speak of..." it said, continuing to move back and forth through the circle, sparks amongst the three adventurers, landing on them and giving them a warm sensation, not painful, but pleasuring. It was obvious the wisp was quite content, having had the ambrosia, and energetic from it. "I could get you an entrance to the building if you wish, show you the way I can, where these golems do not guard, nor know about..." he finished, and then awaited a reply from the three adventurers...

[Lyssoryl]

"Well, I suppose that would be a help, I am still hoping that we shall be able to solve this problem without actually thrashing the golems physically, although if it comes to that I am ready to stand resolutely behind you gentlemen and root you on."

She spoke to the wisp directly, not sure if it would listen to her since she was not the one who summoned it.

"So you believe them to be wild golems, rather than golems possessed by ghosts?"

[Xyltha Thanole]

Xyltha only nodded his agreement. If they could enter the premises undetected, it would provide ample opportunity to scout out the exact nature of the problem and formulate a well-thought out plan to defeat the rogue golems.

"Yes, you should be careful Lyssoryl. Wouldn't want the big bad golems stomping with your underfoot. You might get squashed - then where would we be? Two elves and a Cetherian pancake?" He poked his tongue out at her in jest.

"Actually, if I recall well, your songs might come in handy. You can sing for us while we battle the golems; provide us with entertainment!"

He petted her on the head, like a child. She looked so cute staring so seriously and with resolve as they discussed the crisis at hand.

[Z'kron]

The druid glanced over at the cether with an appraising smile. Song mage. The sage was good at picking such tendencies.
"Perhaps song magic will come in good use. Golems have been known to react to all sorts of unusual things.. I doubt that physical violence will be the clear answer. And your sorcery too, Xyltha. A few mages of different spheres working together can accomplish all sorts of remarkable things. "
A shrug with a genial expression. "Regardless, entering undetected does rather seem to be a method I'm fond of; and I'm all in favor of taking the option offered. "

[Fish Stick]

"Then settled it is!" cried the wisp. "I shall guide you to the other end of the school of mechanics where the golems and the ghosts that may or may not haunt them reside..." And with that, he zoomed in a circle around them, and then zipped away, slow enough that they could follow, but fast enough that they would make it there within a few minutes. The adventurers would be able to look upon the side of the building, and see a few cracks, but nothing out of the ordinary as of yet. "Here is the entrance, but oh my, i think in my death, i've forgotten the way to access it... very very sorry..." said the wisp, giving them all a feeling of remorse that he had completely forgotten the clues and riddle to opening the passageway. "Oh, wait, i remember one thing, something about light..." he said at last...

Vis: 2/3 remaining

"Your death? You were a mortal before this? Oh, I sort of thought spirits were born spirits."

As they reached what appeared to be a dead end, Xyltha sighed in frustration. Was nothing going to go right this brightening? The elfling found the wisp too ambiguous and mysterious for his liking. Why couldn't spirits just come straight and fully confide in their material counterparts with their tips and advices in plain language... Xyltha didn't know, and didn't plan on finding out by dying any time soon.

What was that about a light? Maybe the secret doorway would open with a lightshow of some kind. Or did they have to set ablaze the wall to get inside - wouldn't that just be akin to blowing it apart? Regardless, it wouldn't hurt to try shining some light on the wall.

Xyltha stopped to a complete halt. "I'll try and conjure some light to shine on the wall, maybe that will show us the way."

It was time he was of some use to the party. This was the least he could do, especially since he was still inexperienced in magic - he would use it when he could. He took his time sitting onto the floor and calm his mind. Entering a trance, he would delve deep to gather his Vis and initiate the coupling reaction with the Ara to access the Astral Plane. Therein, he would channel some Essence of Force and manifest it as Mana. Painstakingly, he would follow that by weaving the Mana into the Sphere of Light, as he had done before, so many many cycles. He hoped it would work. He hadn't been practising much light conjuration magic since the Tournament.

"That sounds like an excellent place to start Xyltha. I believe I shall start us off with some magic as well. I was thinking that perhaps an application of Cinthera's Accelerando might be useful in case we have to dart past a savage golem. Once inside the school it might be hard for me to sing without alerting our enemies."

Lyssoryl began her own excursion to clara, then hesitated. Perhaps she ought to wait until they actually got the door open, Xyltha's light might not be the correct answer. On the other hand, she didn't want the party to have to stand about with the door open, attracting all sorts of attention as she cast her spell.

Figuring that they would cast at similar speeds, she gave Xyltha a head start, then achieved a state of Clara herself. If the door opened she would cast her spell, if not, she would wake herself from meditation and they could try something else.

[Z'kron]

The light spell.. well, the druid had some experience with such spells. Some notable experience; having once been a sorcerer of not inconsiderable ability himself. He did miss that a little, sometimes. You could get tired of fireflies after a while; and they weren't nearly as useful to read with. And regardless of how long he worked with them, there was always the sneaking suspicion they'd get hungry.
He observed the young elf's casting carefully; watching the essence stream in and combine with the vis. The skill was still developing, but there was some promise. Most initiates clunked their magic far worse. He smiled, and kept himself ready to assist should Xyltha falter. Not through a direct interference, of course, but something subtle to assist the clara. Perhaps a meditative calm type cantrip. But he doubted the elf would need it.
Ah, but song. The druid didn't know nearly as much about song magic as he liked, so he listened/watched/felt the casting with rapt attention.
"Hmm. How long does the spellsong last after you finish singing, Lyssoryl?"
