Lyssoryl was more than willing to procede. It might have been better to wait for Z'kron, but she was curious to see the magic door, if in fact it could be made to give itself away.
She held her mirror carefully so that it reflected the light of the moon up against the wall. Slowly she played the light back and forth over the surface, looking for anything unusual to happen.
"I hope this works," she said. "I don't really know what else to do with moonlight. I could sing a song about moonlight, or we could reflect it through colored glass, but once we start down that road how would we know where to go?"

Xyltha scrunched his face in deep ponderous thought. What manner, or method, would avail them their entrance to the deep mechanical laboratories and rooms within?
"Well, there was only one way to find out, and that's by experimenting. Let's take it one step at a time, shall we? We'll think about the rest later, when we have nothing else to do..."
He looked expectantly at the Cether, then at the wall. Oh, if only it would open unto them, embracing them for into the inner dungeons of the Institute, so they could do battle with foes hewn of rock and metal.

OOC: i don't know what Z'kron is doing, but i'll start posting for you two to keep the thread moving...
IC: As the two of them approached the wall again they could see something had changed. Since the moonlight was hitting the wall directly, they could easily see an outline of an arch upon the wall, with a line drawn down the middle of it, one that made it look like a doorway. Perhaps touching it or something might be the next step, but one never knew unless they tried...

oocThanks!
"It's working! Is it working?" She reached forwards and touched the ghost of a door with her fingers, trying to see if she could feel anything. She gave the wall a gentle push to see if it would swing inward, or at least wiggle.

As the outline of the arch became visible, thanks to the ray of moonlight reflecting onto the wall, Xyltha's eyes opened in wonder. He expelled a sigh of relief; finally, they were getting somewhere.
He followed Lyssoryl, advancing upon the faint shimmering figure of an archway. Though it was still un-open, he hoped it would give way under the gentle touch of its visitors seeking entry. He reached out his hands, following the Cether, and laid it upon the doorway.

As the two of them began to touch the doorway, they could suddenly feel a crack forming in the center of it, where the line of light had been. Creaking could be heard, and the door began to move inwards a bit, then slid open from either side. Inside, the moonlight light up a bit of the area for them, but darkness approached, and they couldn't see more than a few feet inside the doorway...

Lyssoryl peered within, trying to use her halfling ability to see heat to best advantage. "Here is the trouble with coming at night, we will probably have to carry a light which might give us away. Did you think to bring a lantern? Or perhaps you would care to summon your magical light?"

Xyltha shook his head. "No, I didn't have the foresight to bring a lantern. I guess we'll have to make do with one of my lights."
He grinned, happy that he could bring to bear some magical aid to this expedition. He closed his eyes, his face a furrow of concentration. He ignored the pressing urgency, the sense of excitement that lay ahead of him. That would have to wait, until he could achieve the mental peace required for Clara.
He set his mind about to arcalysise the Vis and Ara, so as to access the Astral Plane. Thence, he would channel forth minute amounts of Force Essence back into the Material Plane as mana and fashioned into a hovering sphere of light.

As Xyltha cast his spell, Lyssoryl decided to cast one of her own; Cynthera's Accelerando. It seemed possible that they might have cause to run at good speed, and she wanted to make sure they could. She pulled the door most of the way closed, and stood a few yards down the road so as not to alert everyone within the building with her singing.
That accomplished, she said "I think that perhaps Z'kron has fallen asleep somewhere. I think we should at least begin a recognizance operation. It seems like a bad idea to just stand here waiting with the door open for any golem to see, and we are probably faster for peeking and spying without an older gentelman in tow."
She peered within the building again, planning to slip quietly inside if she saw nothing that looked immediately injurious.

His casting finished, the Elf mage turned to watch the Cether as she sang her song softly. Serenaded by her throaty voice, he awaited for the song to abate, before joining his companion near the road.
"Well, I suppose it couldn't hurt, to see what's inside a little. What was that song, Lyss? That was super!"
He strode back to the hidden entrance. Thrusting his full weight behind a shove, he opened the door enough to let them slip pass without a fuss.
"Let's get going, shall we?" He slipped inwards, heading the expedition into the inside corridor, wondering all the while where it would lead to.

As the spell was cast, a faint light was produced from the orb of light showing them the way. They could see the walls made of granite as they moved into the hallway, and they could hear screeches, that sounded mechanical coming from further down the hallway, one that was still cloaked in darkness, where the faint light did not yet reach...

Lyssoryl followed Xyltha into the corridor. Her hand strayed to her new sword. Not that she was an expert in using it, but it did give her some comfort. As they advanced towards the ominous noises, it occured to Lyssoryl that it was all together likely that the door would shut behind them and be unopenable from the inside.
She sighed to herself. The problem with taking advice from a dead spirit is it was likely that at one point they had made a choice that went very badly for them. Did the dead learn from their mistakes? Who could guess.
Lyssoryl continued moving towards the noise, her bare halfling feet silent on the stone flooring.

As the screech reached his pointy ears, Xyltha slowed to a halt. Nervous, and wishing for the presence of the elderly druid and his wisp companion, he wasn't very into marching blindly onwards, with naught but a light to guide them.
"Shh... did you hear that? I think I heard something from further up. Do you think it could be the golems?"
He strained his eyes, his night vision taking a few moments to adjust to the gloomy corridors. Was that movement up ahead?
He slowly brandished his tree club in front of his face, ready to strike if need be. Or better yet, throw in their assailant's face and haul ass outta there!
