ooc: thanx heikou i can take it from here

Allanthios was most pleased to hear the news. He had been worried that his Medonian bank notes would not have been any good in Vortex. He quickly pulled out the notes and handed them over to the clerk. He did not notice the nervousness in the clerk for the truth be told Allanthios was new to the city and had more to worry about.

The money would come in quite handy, he would be able to use it to buy a partnership in some bussiness here so he could have a steady source of income. Thinking about that reminded him about his partnership at the Nia's Alcove in Medonia, he wondered whether Lia was making sure to put his share somewhere safe. Allanthios did not plan on returning to that city for a long time, and when he did he almost shivered with exitement at the amount of money he would have made. Not once did any other thought cross his mind, when he thought of Medonia he only thought of his money. He really would have no other reason to go back.

After the clerk was done with doing whatever strange things clerks did when dealing with money, Allanthios held ut his hand and waited for his crowns. The clerk counted the amount out and placed it in the dracon's hand. Allanthios put the money in his purse and gave the clerk a polite nod.

"Thank you, I had best be going."

With that Allanthios turned around and left the bank.

Eye Ball

First on Gures' quest for a home was he Vortex bank. In his previous trip to the city, he had deposited a suum of around 5,000 crowns into an account. Now that he needed a home, he would need to take some money out. A sum of 4,000 crowns would hopefully suffice for a small house.

Gures walked into the bank and headed up towards clerk. "Serale, I would like to make a withdrawl from an account I have here," the young boy said.

The old man stared at Gures as the young woman walked into the bank and approached him. Wasn’t he a bit too young to even have a bank account? The boy couldn’t be more than twelve patterns – at best! Usually children that age lived with their parents and did not worry about financial issues at all! He cleared his throat and considered what to say before he stated, „Can I see your visa, young man?“ Asking for a visa was a necessity if you did not want people to withdraw money from an account they didn’t own. „What’s your name?“ He paused for a moment, and then he decided to ask yet another question, „Where is your family?“

"Gures Angau," the boy said, handing over his visa. It figured that they would be suspicious of a boy his age, but he hated being thought of as a weak child. Then the old man asked a question he hated replying to, “I have no family.”

Gures just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, the way that the old man was looking at him creeped him out. There was something he was supposed to mention but he couldn’t remember what it was.

„Gures Angau …“ the old clerk repeated and looked the boy’s visa over before he returned it to its rightful owner. He took a book that was lying on it, opened it and flipped through it. There was a bank account on Gures’ name. The mage shook his head. Who had allowed a child to open a bank account? It couldn’t have been him. He would have remembered such a thing. Since the account was there he could not refuse to serve the boy, and thus he asked, „How much money would you like to withdraw?“

„So you have no family …“ he murmurred thoughtfully as he waited for the boy to take his visa back and answer his question. „Do you at least have a place where you can stay? If not you should consider going to the orphanage. They take care of a lot of children like you …“ For a moment he considered taking Gures to the orphanage just to make sure that he was safe from the scum that inhabitated the city … maybe he would once the boy had his money …

Gures scowled, "I do not need anyone to look after me," he replied. "I just need to take out 4,000 crowns."

This is what the young boy hated, people were always treating him like a child who couldn't look after himself. If that was true he wouldn't have lasted this long.

"Everybody needs somebody ..." the old mage replied and waved his hand. Gures could suddenly see a pile of banknotes on the desk in front of him. The bank clerk slid the money across the table towards the boy and then gave him a piece of paper and a pen. "You have to sign this and confirm that you have received the money ..." he said. "You can write, can't you? Besides that I want you to visit me again in a couple of cycles so that I can see how you are doing. I feel responsible for you ..."

Gures signed the piece of paper, showing that he could write. The last thing the bank clerk said seemed strange and had surprised the young boy. Of course Gures thought that was only because the bank clerk thought he was too young to be on his own.

"Fine," he said, placing the bank notes into a money pouch he had with him. "Thank you."

Gures returned to the bank and walked up to the clerk. He was sure it was the same one from before. "Serale, I wish to put some money back into my account," he said.

The old mage looked at him. "It is probably for the best... Gures," he said.

Gures handed over the banknotes and the old mage waved his head. The bank notes disappeared and the old mage handed over a piece of paper and a pen.

"That is for you to sign conferming that your money has been placed in the bank," he then told the boy.

Gures took the pen and signed, just like he had done previously. Once that was done, he passed both the signed piece of paper and the pen back over to the old clerk.

Now that his money was safely in the bank, Gures turned and left the building.

Drogean is an upstanding Citizen
Drogean's right boot had begun to come apart at the toe, and with every other step he took towards the bank came a sound like a flag snapping in the wind - how his boot made that noise, he didn't know. His boot felt like it was comming apart more with each step, and he only hoped he could make it to the bank before the whole sole fell apart. He could have ridden upon Shaun'Dach, but the leash for the dog, Elise - he didn't really think of her as his - wasn't long enough to be held from horseback. Casting befriend animal on her to keep her close didn't cross his mind. With leash in one hand and reins in the other, he was forced to walk with his deteriorating boot. He debated if he should risk it and just walk faster, or take the boot off now and save it. The boot was, after all, ten eras old, and it had served him well. Perhaps it deserved peace in its last days, but Drogean was going to a bank. It wasn't that he was in a hurry, but that he had a sizable amount of money, and it wouldn't do to go into the bank with half a boot and a muddy foot. He pressed on, walking faster to the bank. Maybe the boot could last through the day. And if it didn't... Drogean had decided to grant it an honourable death in the line of duty.

The appearance of the bank made Drogean smile. If they can afford to build a building like this, they must know how to make money. He tied both Shaun'Dach and Elise outside, and took his banknotes from Shaun'Dach's saddlebags. With coat, shirt, and pant pockets stuffed with notes, went inside.

His boot had stopped peeling; it seemed the heel was made of stronger stuff and would last a little while longer. Still, his sole flipped beneath his foot and he had to walk awkwardly to keep it as it belonged. He half-dragged his foot to the nearest official-looking person to keep his boot from making that sound that had only gotten louder and more annoying. At least now he was here. He had made it to the bank without losing his boot.

The exciting life of Drogean.

To the teller he said, "I'm here from Natura, just over in Centripax, and I hold a rather important job there which pays me an excessive amount of money. I have so much, I feel something needs to be done with it. Even in note form, the sheer number of crowns I have are slowing down my horse, you see." He didn't smile, he really wasn't kidding. "I am not looking to merely put my crowns into a bank account, however. What I would like to do instead is invest. I would think this is the best place for me to start, knowing so little about the business and institutions of Vortex. Now my knowledge of banking itself is likewise minimal, but I'm sure that's your gain. I plan to get rid of some thirty to eighty thousand crowns, so please, if you are equipped to handle my request, let me know what Vortex has to offer."

Srelin Mashahar is an upstanding Citizen
Timestamp: The 48th brightening month of Kalendryas, Season of Autumn of Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XI Post Fractum in the Age of the Darkening

Srelin's first stop on his second day in the city of Vortex was the bank, not for any sort of need for banking (he found depositing coins and their slow interest to be a waste of money, since they could be invested in in much riskier but more profitable ventures) but for the need for employment.

Srelin detested work, but he needed the money, and knew that a job where he handled great sums of money would work best for him, and there were potential fringe benefits if he ever wanted to try something illegal.

Walking up to the old man that served as clerk he spoke in a loud voice, not sure of the old man's hearing abilities. "Serale sir, I would like a job here, is that possible at all?"

Nothing more to say really.

The most notable of all his traits was not his languid step, a stuttering grace of hardened strength. It was not his sight-jarring brilliant eyes or the sick malevolent root of depraved misogynous that festered within his soul. It was his undeniable intelligence that spoke of his true inner strength. He was extraordinarily quick in mind and body. He firmly believed that his mind was the real force of his persona.

He walked through the branched entrance of the bank, suppressing his awe of yet another architecturally flawless building. He approached a clerk and politely asked for the manager of the bank. The clerk promptly directed him to a doorway filled with a pane of glass. Inside, he could see a large perfectly kept desk with a small stack of neatly arranged documents and several large cabinets. The room had little to no trinkets and was quite humble. He knocked politely on the door and awaited the person responsible for keeping the bank running.

Once invited in, Olvann smiled approvingly. He was well kept, as always, his humble simple garb suggesting he was nothing more than he appeared to be. "Serale good sir, I've come to inquire on the position of clerk. I am quite proficient in mathematics and have had much experience with algebra." He stated, his tone carrying a short but unmistakably courteous ring. "Perhaps we could come to some agreement?"

The mage chuckled as he heard Olvann’s request, but then he gestured for him to come closer. “You want to work here?” he asked and stroke his long white beard. “Let me get a better look!” He adjusted his spectacles and bent forward so that he could see the man clearly. His eyes were failing him from time to time now, and his hands were shaking. It was a good thing that his mind was still intact and that he was still capable of casting spells.

“Mathematics and algebra you say?” he continued. “How many years did you study? We could use a little help – as you can see most of us are old – but I need to make sure that you are really capable. Can you read and write as well?”
