Elros walked to the gates again, another day of the in and out, by now the guards knew his face so well that they rarely ever bothered asking for his visa unless there was an officer standing near by. This particular brightening was one of those days. "Serale," Elros said as he walked up to the gates, seeing the guard captain near by he pulled out his visa, "Here's my visa. Just entering back into the city to enter my home from another unsuccesfull run of treasure hunting."
"Go on in El," the guard said to him, he was commonly refered to as El by people he was close to and familiar with, "Better luck next time."
"Yeah yeah yeah," Elros said as he took back his visa and continued into the city, disapointed with his run... again.

Mid-Morning in Solaria, Cryxatum in the Season of Summer
This had been a bad idea.
Ashandra watched the guards apprehensively as she approached, Visa already clutched between two hands. Her steps were quick and jerky, her bottom lip caught between her teeth. It was with a similarly quick, jerky movement that she handed over her Visa, twisting her fingers together nervously. "Travelling." She said shortly, still not trusting herself to speak the common language of these people. "See many lands."
She couldn't help the blush that stained her cheeks as she accepted her neatly folded Visa back, ducking her head as she moved past them and into the city proper.

TIMESTAMP: Late Junctior, in the season of Autumn, era II of the Celestine Mandate, era XIV Post Fractum.
The familiar gates of Vortex stretched high and foreboding before the young woman as she approached with her visa in hand, a silent testament to years of darkness that held within it many broken lives. She thought that perhaps she may have been one of them, had things not worked out differently than they had, and a sense of nostalgia overcame her as she realized how much that freedom had meant to her.
Things were different now, than they had been. But there was still something here that would not let her be.
She handed the visa to the guards waiting there, and accepted it when it was promptly handed back to her. She voiced her name - Muse Alberic - and stated that she had come to visit family. With that she was admitted into the gates and she stepped lightly, and quietly, along. She was not certain where she was headed in particular, but she figured that she would soon find something.

TS: First Day of Imperos, Autumn, XIV (pf)
She dutifully handed over her Visa, waiting her turn with the rest of the party. Avrie had traveled far to meet with her twin, Anora, and her soon to be brother-in-law Dimitri. Her own husband, Venn Drega, was with her, and so too their new acquaintance Amelia Lynsdaughter. It felt odd, visiting Vortex and having to think of it as Anora's new home. It wasn't right. Not in the least.
Avrie sighed. She nodded to the guard's question and responded lightly. "I'm visiting family, only staying a brightening or two. We are off to a funeral just north of here." She knew Dimitri was known at the gates, so too probably was Anora now. Taking her Visa back, she quickly stashed it in her saddlebag and rode her mare into the gates.
She hoped, suddenly, that they didn't stay long.

The Watchman and The Black City
Timestamp: Imperos, Autumn, XIV
The gentle ascent up to the looming gates of the Dark City birthed deep imaginings within the mind of one Hurahan Marr.
Of twisting silhouetted spires cast black against a backdrop of clouded skies the colour of rubies. Towers looming parental overhead, effused by the many pale faces glancing fleetingly from archways and window sills and balconies, all pervading smiles and smirks the likes of which delighted him within his skulls imaginings.
The Arts of Darkness inked out deep into the air that surrounded him, like a stagnant pool of potency, or countless pollen choking the air of a twilight meadow - thick and ripe with all that turns the stomach of normality.
Vortex to him was the Underbelly, white, milky, the nutrients of which were sickly and rich.
It pleased him to feel this way. To be affected by the colours and textures of that before his searing gaze.
The Guards own gazes cast analytical upon him. The lithe Esh'Lahier approaching calmly before them with skin and hair as white as winter, eyes as white as pearls.
"Please show me your visa, and state the reason why you wish to enter the city of Vortex."
Hurahan looks to the Guard, there is quiet save for dusk wind as he produces said Visa.
"I wish to visit the Mausoleum, Har'oloth, Park, Lady Fire Square and other places. I am passing through."
"To where?" inquires the second Guard.
It is a question thought deeply and quietly upon.
"To Inspiration..." Marr replies and smiles as warmly as his severe features allow.
The first Guard peers over the Document to the Elf with his seemingly propitious disposition. Both Guards exchange looks before the first hands back the Visa.
Marr conceals it, nods once and enters through the gates.

The Month of Imperos or Junctior, in the Season of Autumn, Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum.
Summer broke like a bad fever into the cool breeze that was fall, and at night a particularly discomforting chill swept through the land of Vortex. Elros himself was cold as ice as he fled in fear of what had happened. A man accidently killed himself as he attempted to kill Elros. Now Elros carried all of his items with him, a forgoten man left to be forgoten. To help avoid suspicion of murder Elros left Vortex, he hoped that the ramsacking would make it look like the local gangs were responsable for what happened.
He reached the gate, looked back at what he was leaveing, and left towards the wilderness. He was heading north, he hoped that traveling by foot would get him to Nexus Prime or Paxia before Winter came. Haveing not the memory of traveling that distance before Elros took his chances and he went along his way. He knew there were mountains directly in his way, but he didn't know if he would try to cut through them or avoid them. All he knew was that he must go.

Month of Junctior in the Season of Autumn, Era XIV
The city, in many ways, was as important to the Vysstichi Prince as it was to the Imperial Empire. Not only was Vortex his home, but it was his base of operations and the epicenter of many of his activities. Unlike demesnes controlled by the illicit government, Vortex was as liberated from the Empire as any city possibly could be without absolute autonomy. The necromantic realm was a thorn in the Imperial Government’s side, a keen reminder of the countless flaws in its imperfect system.
But for those who lived their lives in the shadows, however, Vortex was a city of immeasurable opportunities.
As he arrived at the gates, the dark elf tilted his head just enough to reveal his crimson orbs and the contrasting obsidian skin of his face. His high cheek bones, trademark of the Vysstichi people, belonged to the noble ancestry of the most powerful family in Har’oloth, House Kitrye’veresi. Without a thought the dark elf presented his heavily tattered visa, one that had seen much use over the patterns of his life among the surface dwellers.
After gaining admittance, Faust D’Rinishad casually slipped his visa into one of the many pockets contained within the folds of his all-enveloping cloak. He pulled the cowl of his hood low over his visage, and then he disappeared into the crowds that decorated the city streets. After over three months, it felt good to be home.

Vortex. A place feared by most and went with a lot of hated and distrust when one came from here or went. Hathor he was different then the others. Standing just a bit over six foot. He was an Leopardi Katta. He was a very rare type being pure white with green cat like eyes. He learn long ago he had to make friends or have a rougher life so that is what he did, or tried to do yet somehow in the end failed who misunderstood him and his actions.
His childhood that was for a different time as he pushed the thoughts away getting out his visa. He showed them his visa as he came upon the gates. The guards looked it over and gave it back.
"Here, I am here as I live semi here and a student."
He said as he kept his white tail moving behind him. Few would stop him from his looks for what the Leopardis made there name of ages ago and fewer would really stop just an student learning.
He would wait for there reply then talk more or head in the city looking for his master. He would hate if they were the reason he was going to be late.

7th Brightening of the Month of Kalendryas, in the Season of Winter, Era I of the Celestine Mandate, Era XV Post Fractum.
Kaleal glanced up at the gates of Vortex, heart pounding at the realisation of what he was about to do. Holding on to his visa, he walked up to the gates. Almost instantaneously, the two guards stationed there said "Show us your visa, and state your purpose in the city of Vortex." Holding out his visa for the guards to inspect, Kaleal quickly rehearsed the lie in his head one more time, as he had many times before coming here. After the guards had returned his visa, Kaleal stated "I am passing through the city, to see other lands." The guards seemed satisfied with this explanation, allowing Kaleal through, as he was silently praying that this lie would continue un-noticed.

1st brightening of the first cycle Immanis of Winter, Era I of the Celestine Mandate, Era XV Post Fractum.
The guards really only stoped you in you were coming in. Hathor just smiled at them as he left the city of Voxtex. He would be back soon he thought, he had other work that had to be done before hand.

15th Brightening of Immanis, Season of Winter, Era XV (pf)
The Shield-Daekin had finally arrived from the capital city of Aelyria Prime. The journey had been long, but Ralston was finally here. Vortex was a new sight to the soldier and its gates contained the many opportunities which awaited him. In fact, the entire Arium Province was a new place to him and the excitement of exploring a new city was intriguing.
Ralston had some brief orders from Aelyria Prime, but his reins were loose and his time could be spent more leniently as a non-commissioned officer. He had gained rank, as the shield on his collar reflected, and though the promotion was small, it was a step up on the food chain. He could now boss some of the military around and demanded more respect than those Legionnaires of lesser rank. It all came with minuses, of course, but the positive effects of moving up in rank most certainly outweighed any downside the soldier could find.
Making his way to the entrance, Ralston produced whatever documentation necessary. Whether that be his military ID, his Imperial Visa, his military orders, or his sword, he had all prepared so the guard could get on with his job and the soldier could in-process quickly. Not expecting any difficulties, Shield-Daekin Sarwick lifted his eyes to his new home. He did not know for how long his stay would endure, but he would make the most of the time he would spend here.

Second Aslanica of Kalendryas
She was a slight, thin little thing, head bowed as she walked, a dark, woolen cloak wrapped snugly around her shoulders, tunic and skirt visible beneath. She was covered from neck to booted feet, white hair falling in waves across her shoulders, pale skin a shocking contrast to the darkness of her cloak.
Presenting her visa to the guard, she gave one quick, sharp nod of her head to the man, a small smile gracing her lips. "Travellin'. Hopin' to rest a' the inn?" She framed it as a question, relieved with the guard waved her on without any questions. Not that it was that surprising of a reason to stop in a city, really; after all, one needed to eat, to sleep.

9th of Immanis, winter, Era XV P.F.
It was overcast. The light from the suns was blocked by the clouds and along with the heat. To many it was a miserable day, but to the travelling Esh’lahier it was perfect. It was a nice temperature and he never liked too much light. The same could said for any Vysstichi dwelling within the walls of the nearby city of Vortex. The Esh’lahier had decided to take a break from his travelling and was looking for a career, something a little more permanent then his normal jobs. It just happens that he chose Vortex as the city to find this job. Something about the place seemed a little more to his tastes. He couldn’t be sure of some of the rumours he had come across, but whether they were true or not the town seemed to be the perfect place to start.
Within the hour he had reached the city gates and a short line. The guards were checking the visa of the people entering the city as to be expected. It did slow things done a little, but the Esh’lahier waited calmly until it was his turn. The guards were part of the majority in regards to their opinion of the day. He expected as much. The job wasn’t glorious; it wasn’t even the slightest entertaining. Coupled with the atmosphere, it was a horrible day of work. It had to be done though, and he was grateful they were here to let him enter.
He approached the guards with a calming smile on his face. It was disarming, though subtle. He definitely didn’t appear to be anything but an average citizen of the empire, if not a little regal looking. His clothes were elegant to say the least, but he did have a pack slung over his shoulder and didn’t look as arrogant or showy as most of them. The guards wouldn’t think twice about much of the details, but his face would probably one they remembered. His presence was something more. He was beautiful, and everything else he did was almost saintlike.
The guards asked him the normal questions. He did as asked and presented his visa that named him as Drei Nervi. “Serale, I’m here to get work and see if I can offer my services to this city.” He answered with the same calm smile. It wasn’t very hard to get into a city as long as you had a visa. As long as he didn’t say anything stupid they would have let him in. As he suspected they gave him clearance to enter shortly after. Before he moved on he put away his visa and said, “Thanks.” He had entered the city, and his next step was to find a job, of course he wouldn’t settle for a commoner’s job. He was going to the Thane’s office.

Third Cycle on Pontius, Winter of Era XV P.F. |
|
|
Joshua approached the Vortex guards with his visa ready, quick to declare himself as a new resident of Vortex- which he'd just become after the death of his father's-uncle's-nephew's-brother-in-law's-sister's-son had passed away and left the young lad his modest hovel. How one acquired real estate in such a manner was beyond him, though Josh figured it probably had something to do with the location; he'd heard once that "Location is everything", it seemed that saying held a bit of truth.
Since nothing had been amiss with his information, and whether or not the guards actually cared, Joshua was allowed into the city to begin his new horrifying-no, scratch that- amazing life.

Areka rode up the gates of Vortex and actually gave a soft kind smile. It had been a while since she had been to the city. She slide off the horse taking the reins in hand and walked up to the guard. It still being light outside the hood of the winter cloak was up hiding her face from most but mainly protecting her eyes. Pulling the visa out with her free hand she handed it to the guard before speaking "going home" in a soft voice. Once everything checked out she whispered softly to the horse. It lowered its body and she climbed back up on it. Once settled she made way into the city where it had all began just a couple of seasons before. She was going home.
