Skylar D'ain is an upstanding Citizen
"Hmph," the elf muttered, turning round for the briefest of moments to find himself alone. Skylar had yet to consider his situation objectively. Like a man blinded by fury was he by the hope of redemption; there was naught that might hinder his improvised quest, save only himself. But he yearned for an existence free of the malady with the liquid cure, and it was that which he hoped to achieve, supplanting vice for virtue.

"Oh, ye of little faith," he said with a smile, to a dwarven skeptic who was no longer present. After all, the penitent soul had come to commune with the dead. How apropos. And with that was he gone.

Secrets :
To Dimitri Wladisyaw, Captain of the Vortexian Guard

Serale,

A season has passed with you at the head of the Guards and I was wondering how far along you are with the goals that were set three months ago. I would like to know to what extend the corruption been dealt with and how the crime levels have evolved. How is the recruiting going? Do you have sufficient forces to patrol the Southern Quarter as well? If not, how much have joined so far and how much are still needed. Basically I’d like a short update on what you have achieved so far, what your future plans are and how far along you are with those.

The same messenger as the day before appeared, but this time he carried no letter. He did carry a message though, just not a written one, so he would walk to any desk clerk or guard blocking his way and make his intentions clear.

"Serale, Amber Brightwing, thane of Vortex would like to make an appointment with the head of the Guards. When is he available?"

Serale,

I have a task for you. On the first plane there is a market in a cave near the Marauder’s Den Pub. They deal in stolen goods, are bribing business owners and kidnap citizens of your Empire to sell them on the local slave markets, claiming that they are barbari after taking away their visas. I’ve been informed by Lady Eilantha that they hinder her pursuit of the position of matron of the second house of Har’oloth, but that she can not deal with them directly. If what you said to me was true then I’m sure it would be not only in mine, but also in your own benefit if we helped her out on this. No doubt I don’t have to tell you that her involvement in this should not be mentioned to anyone.

A letter bearing the Thanal seal was delivered in the early afternoon accompanied by a copy of the The Herald.

Secrets :
To Dimitri Wladisyaw, Captain of the Vortexian Guard

Serale,

I don’t know if you have read the Herald yet today, but it seems that as of suddenly we should be handing out 200 Crown rewards a piece to everyone bringing in orcs heads. I have yet to receive any official word on the matter though and I was wondering if you had received anything on it.

If no you weren’t given official orders were by the provincial government I’d suggest we just tell anyone wanting their 200 crowns to go and collect them in Nexus Prime. Even though their numbers were halved some time ago there are still quite a number of orcs present in the city and I don’t see why we should be paying the expenses. I don’t even see why the guards shouldn’t step in when orc hunters try and collect a scalp in public as, until told otherwise by those higher up, the orc hunters would be the ones breaking the law when attacking and capturing a citizen of the Empire.

If the provincial government can’t be bothered to relay new laws to us, why should be follow them?
