Bayce is an upstanding Citizen
OOC: Timestap added in red

Timestamp: 2nd brightening of Aperitus, Winter.
First Era of the Pax Imperialis.

"Greetings, Elf, how goes it with you?" Bayce announced as he approached the keeper, and when Markenar responded with a polite "How may I help you," Bayce began to explain.

"I have just aquired a pair of Falcatas, one slightlt larger than the other, and I need to learn how to use them. I would, of course, want to use them at the same time, so basic dual wielding is, I suppose the technical term for what I want to learn."

The vysstichi responded by saying, "Basic training is 200 crowns."

The Katta thought about how much he had spent today. He only had 130-some-odd crowns left. Not enough. "Tell you what, sir, I can give you 125 crowns now and later come in and give you another 80, how does that sound?"

"How do I know I can trust you?"

Bayce thought about it. He sighed, "I will let you keep one of my falcatas until I pay you, it is worth 100 crowns, and I wouldn't want to leave it anywhere."

"Very well, meet me here tomorrow as the sun rises, and you can begin."

Bayce passed 125 crowns to the dark-elf, and began to remove the sword when the elf said. "I do not need that yet, I have not trained you yet, so I don't need any collateral. You must give it to me tomorrow." Bayce nodded and turned to leave.

OOC: I need someone to mod because I would be inept at doing it myself.
Kalinda, if you could please find me a peer moderator, and have her/him PM me to open the training thread, that would be great.
PleaseThankyou.

The next brightening was a dark one. The sun was hidden behind gray clouds and the threat of rain loomed over the head of the citizens in Vortex. The dark elf trainer, Markener, was ready for his charge. A newbie, I'm going to have fun with this one today, he thought to himself with a mischievous grin place on his delicate yet sturdy features. His mind was already racing through many amusing tasks he could be the trainee through. It wasn't the first time he would abuse someone and it sure wasn't going to be the last. His mind was a twisted one but in the end he got the job done and his students came out with an exceptional amount of knowledge in their subject. He himself wasn't a master at weaponry but he knew his way around.

He waited impatiently for the katta to arrive. He didn't wake up in a good mood as it was and now the katta was testing his patience by being late. This is going to cost him, he thought to himself as he pictured the Katta prancing around trying to balance a sword on the top of his head. That was a good little trick he could pull on the learner, after all who was the one getting payed for trying to teach someone? Markener had to get his amusement somehow and it wasn't by waving around a sword in the air.

OOC: I didn't intend to be late... It was going to be one of his traits, never being late... Or early.

Timestamp:
Sunrise. 3rd brightening of Aperitus, Winter. First Era of the Pax Imperialis.

Bayce awoke. The straw mattress was uncomfortable, but it had kept him in its power longer than he had expected. He got up, looked out the window, to the east. The sky was orange. He had about two minutes to get across town to the Fitness and Bones. He put on his tunic, his armour, cloak, and swords. He took a couple chunks of jerky and held them with his teeth as he hopped out the door, pulling on his boots.

He looked up. The sun's rays were dropping down towards him, telling him he had a minutes to sprint across the town. He arrived ten minutes later. He wasn't a super-hero. He entered the building, breathing deeply. He saw Markener. He looked like he wasn't going to just teach, but torment. He said, "Serale, Markener, ow ae you this fine brightening?"

Third Cycle

It had been less than a cycle since he had been in this very same building learning the blade and patching up all the students Markener and his son Zackner seemed to jovially put holes in. He had returned, having coin in his pocket from his position as clerk in the Vortex bank had left him with money to spare. Having put his plan in action this very week, he was having trouble remaining as busy as he had planned. The extra clinking in his pockets had demanded to be spent, Olvann's thirst for knowledge had readily thought of a way to spend it. Here, in this very hall again.

He was greeted by his previous teacher Zackner, a warm smile decorating his face. Olvann truly believed he enjoyed training him. Perhaps he simply enjoyed a student as devoted and physically indomitable as Olvann. Nonetheless, it was a thought he did not care to dwell on and exchanged a quick bow with Zackner.

"Serale, I've returned to take up Shaasskah.." He said with a brief smile. Shaking his pockets to assure the black elf he had sufficient coin, he continued, "However, this time, I won't be needing your charity." He stated with a chuckle and received a chuckle in return, "Pity! Your skills have been sorely missed around here, my father has had to tone down his training.

Olvann smiled at that comment, Markener was a brutal instructor, and rather than delight in teaching his students physical prowess, immensely enjoyed making them bleed. Olvann had witnessed his brutality on many occasions. He had been increasingly brutal since he had someone readily available to patch his students up. He had been seething when his son had told him of their arrangement, Markener was far less compassionate than his son and was not about to let Olvann get away with doing nothing but squatting on his basement floor.

Zackner motioned towards the back, "Markener will teach you shaasskah, it will be two-hundered crows for basic." He said with a smile, indicating the price of his demise. Markener likely would not take kindly to his reappearance. He had worked Olvann hard and taken a dislike to him.

Olvann placed a bank note made out to the Fitness and Bones for a hundered crowns for his training and waited patiently as Zackner examined the note and placed it in a lock box. "The other hundered after..." Olvann stated only to recieve an apathetic shrug from Zackner. The dark elf then led Olvann to a training room and entered just as another battered student was leaving... Olvann followed Zackner into the training room.

OOC: I will be self-modding my training .

Winter, Era I of the Pax Imperialis, Era III of the Celestine Mandate, Era XII Post Fractum in the Age of the Darkening

Paradigm Shift: Alleria Prime Opens and the new Empire is revealed as Audrey adresses the peoples

Month of Immanis, 15th Brightening

It had been a while since Alric had managed to actually do anything worthwhile as far as practice with his glaive. Training under the priests of the Temple took up much of his time, but during his off time, it had been decided that at least some familiarity must be attained with the beloved polearm of the D'Rinishad Shadowmancer. Thus, Alric had found himself directed to an establishment known specifically for its training areas. The dark elf of course was not seeking anyone to teach him anything, as such classes would conflict with those of his necromancy, but nevertheless he could always practice on his own, and attempt to recall all those times he used his weapon in the past.

Entering the Fitness and Bones, Alric nods to a vysstichi that he could only assume was in charge. "Serale. Might I assume you are in charge of this establishment?" The dark elfin Shadowmancer stood casualy against his glaive. He wore his usual black leather attire--a sleevless vest, tied about halfway up, leaving his chest bare and a very meticulously shined silver pendant of his House. A basic black belt held up a pair of loose fitting black leather pants, laced up the outside of the legs, tucked into a pair of soft leather boots. His hair was about shoulderblade length, cut even at the tips and naturally straight. Fair skinned, like most of his race, the eyes of this particular vysstichi were a deep, dark, blood red.

Eyeing the stranger, Markener nodded. "Aye, I run this establishment. What can I do for you?" Alric took a moment before answering, letting his eyes move around the training area. "Yes, I have come in search of a place to practice. I do not require training, as it would cut into time I have allocated elsewhere. If need be I can pay a fee for taking up space in your facility."

Letting the younger vysstichi owner contemplate the offer, Alric lets his attention wander around, slowly bringing it back to the man as he begins to speak. "I think I can work out a deal with you. Tell me, what is your name. I'll work out a written form for you to sign for me." Nodding, Alric complies, "Aye, the name is Alric. Alric D'Rinishad." At those words, however, Markener, faltered. D'Rinishad?. Looking at Alric, he shook his head. "Ah, your money is no good here my friend. Feel free to train here as often as you like. I'll tell Faust I cut you a deal."

Raising an eyebrow, Alric was never one to pass up a free ride. He had no idea who this Faust person was, but perhaps nothing would come of it. "Many thanks good sir. Perhaps in time we will be able to spar. I know it will be long in coming, but for people such as us time is fluid, yes?" Chuckling Markener can only nod, "Aye, fluid indeed." At that, he allows Alric to take the floor and practice, returning to his own tasks.

***Continued here.***

Fifth Cycle

Olvann glided back into the Fitness and Bones, having successfully completed his Shasskah training only brightenings before, he was interested in continuing his training in dual wielding. He had had the opportunity to train his blades repeatedly in the last couple cycles, and was interested in continuing his training. He had been practicing frequently, often taking a few candlemarks of each brightening to hone his skills. He was becoming quite adept at wielding the blades. He loved the craft, when he danced with the steel he felt as calm as when he embraced clara. His mind seemed to clear and he felt himself instinctually moving through his forms, dancing with the blade. Even at this early stage in his training, he looked more a dancer than a warrior. One day, he would be a brilliant fighter.

The fight with the necromancer had done it's work, it had been the first time his blades had touched the skin of a man, bitten flesh, and though he was not ashamed for what he had done, he would be forever changed because of it. Death was something he healed, something he shunned. He saved peoples lives, he didn't end them. But evidently, that thought was a falsity, he was a killer, as much as any other, condoned or not.

He approached the desk with a gentle lope, intent on his training. His master stood behind the desk and smiled at his arrival. "Back for more?" He asked rhetorically. He seemed to ask such questions frequently, it seemed for his own sake more than for others. "Indeed.." Olvann answered with a bow, greeting the vysstichi. He truly was a magnificent instructor, not too harsh, but certainly enough to keep a student in his place. His wrath was also easily provoked, though Olvann had never witnessed it personally, he had tended many wounds during his brief interlude as the healer of the training facility.

"Intermediate Dual-Wield" He stated with a smile. Zackner returned the smile with a bow and said, "I'll be your instructor and it will be four-hundred crowns." He said with a smirk. Generally, Olvann would have given him half now, and half later, but he gave this training facility enough business to know that they would not dare theive his coin any longer. He counted out two bank notes for two-hundred crowns and placed them upon the counter.

"I'm done for the brightening, come back tomorrow, early." He stated and Olvann nodded. He gave the vysstichi one last bow, and left without another word. Tomorrow it would be then, another chapter in the blade work of the healer.

OOC: I will be self-modding my training.

Kuro Kodiru is an upstanding Citizen
Third Cycle of Ponutis, In the Season of Winter,
Era XII Post Fractum, Era III of the Celestine Mandate

Kuro's was a situation similar to many of those who flocked through the doors of Fitness and Bones. The kemite had bought a weapon at Elegant Blades and now he sought to master, or at least acquaint himself with, it's use. As he walked into the training hall, the sounds of fists against wood reverberated through the atmosphere, accompanied in places by grunts or muttered curses. Then, as he ventured further into the room, he spotted the sign. Are you sure you came to the right place? Kuro was fairly certain he'd arrived at the right place, though time would tell whether or not he'd come to regret it.

He approached the elf at the other end of the room, who was busy punishing a wooden dummy. When the dark elf tore his attention from his target to a potential student, and made his greeting, Kuro bowed his head, "Greetings, sensei. I have the honor of being Kuro Kodiru, and I'm here for training in the small sword."

"The small sword..." The dark elf seemed to chew on this for a moment, then continued, "You mean the rapier."

Kuro blinked, "A shorter and lighter version of the rapier, yes."

"Alright," The dark elf shrugged, then turned to land a few more blows on the dummy. "Be here at dusk tommorow, and don't be late."

Kuro nodded, paid Markener his two hundred crowns and bid the dark elf farewell. He left the complex, determined to be early on the next darkening.

But Markener, as it would turn out, had something else to say about that.

(OOC: I'll be self-modding my training, if that's ok.)

Third Month of Winter, Era XII

The autumn Draconess strode into the gym, folding in her wings tighter as she stepped through the doorway. Eyes scanned the area about her, before she moved to the desk. Resting the tip of a three foot long War Scythe on a low bench, she gave a charming Draconic smile before licking her snout. Upon hearing his question, she straightened.
"I am looking for training in Basic War Scythe."

In her other hand she rested on the rest of the scythe, nothing by a five foot staff with a screw at the top. When joined, the weapon stood at an impressive seven feet in height. It looked scary and cut deep when such was needed.

OOC: I'll be self modding, but if someone wants to give me an NPC

Early in the Season of Winter, Era III

An impenetrable curtain of shadows enveloped the Fitness and Bones Training Center, appareling it in a cloak of darkness. Even the sign that was situated above the doorway was barely perceptible through the haze of blackness. The brightening was nearing its end, and with its apex had arrived the notorious night. Surprisingly, though, glints of golden candlelight could still be perceived beneath the cracks of the doorway, insinuating that those inside were still active and mobile. This was not astonishing, however, to those that had often bypassed these enclosed chambers when retiring for the evening. The Vysstichi Lord of the Academy hardly slumbered these days, and even when he did his son and potential daughter-in-law tended to frequent the facility and maintain it. To those that lived and died by the blade, there was no other purpose in life than to harness and refine their abilities. This was, perhaps, the reason why the reputable warriors of the academy had thrived for so long despite some having previously dishonorable professions.

Markener, the swordmaster of the Fitness and Bones, leaned casually against the wooden counter as he peered into the main training hall where his son Zackner and the half-Vysstichi Terren danced about the cushioned floorboards. The sound of blades clattering against one another resonated through the air, but these inflections only served to ameliorate the atmosphere of the formerly soundless corridors. A hint of a grin flitted across the Vysstichi Lord’s visage as he watched his son draw two blades, gyrating them in graceful motions before delivering a double thrust to his opponent, the vivacious but deadly Terren. The woman managed to parry each of the attacks with ease, and in addition countered with an overhead slash of her own. Zackner, Markener’s pride, joy, and the future of the Fitness and Bones Training Center, batted the girl’s attack with ease. The Vysstichi Lord had personally taught his son the whimsical routine, and he was quite satisfied that his son had been able to master it in such a short while.

The only person that the dark elf could think of aside himself that could possibly have defeated Zackner was none other than Zackner’s former student, one Faust D’Rinishad. The thought of his family’s long time friend elicited a smirk upon the Vysstichi Lord’s features, and perhaps the half-Elf Jhael, who had quite frequently helped Markener to teach incoming students. Business had escalated as of late, and it was during times like these that the Vysstichi Lord was grateful that Faust had offered many helping hands to participate in the training of Vortex’s weak. Subsequently, Markener no longer exhausted all of his nights here at the Fitness and Bones. It had not taken him long to acquaint himself with Faust’s former teacher, Jhael. The two had come to acknowledge and respect each other’s skills, though the matter of distinguishing the more superior had yet to take place.

The creak of the entrance’s doors summoned the Vysstichi Lord’s attention, and he cautiously gripped the hilt of the long sword strapped at his side as he surveyed the doorway.

To his surprise, however, it was no burglar or foe that appeared at the now opened doors: it was another dark elf. This Vysstichi, however, was no ordinary creature. His silver hair, haphazardly tousled, framed a boyish face. And upon this lad’s expression was a specific smile, one that Markener knew all too well.

It was Faust D’Rinishad.

Markener, it’s been a long time.” the Vysstichi Prince chuckled and advanced into the facility. Flanking his shoulders were Valoryn and Eryndyl, the two commanders of the Order of the Sacred Blade. It was not uncommon knowledge that the dark elf had ventured throughout Telath accompanied by these trusted companions, but apparently his adventures had brought him back to Vortex.

Speak of the devil, I was just thinking of you.” Markener conceded nonchalantly. Whistling to rivet the attention of both Zackner and Terren, he waved the pair over with a callused hand. “You two, look who we have here.

Zackner was the first to enter, and the gleaming smile that spread across his lips testified to his immediate excitement. Though the dark elf was older than Faust, he nonetheless possessed the features that might have indicated him to be a mere teenager. “Faust! You’ve returned.” the swordsman laughed and twirled his blades into their sheaths and he stepped aside to allow Terren to approach the Prince and embrace him warmly.

It’s good to see you again my friend. I hope that the road was not too strenuous. Though, I must say, you look older.

The Lord of House D’Rinishad offered a tender smile as he released Terren from the hug, though he rested a hand upon both her and Zackner’s shoulders.

It had its ups and downs, my friends, but I am home at last. Where are Adria and Master Jhael?

Markener shrugged his broad shoulders and glanced over the new-coming trio in time to catch a glimpse of the heavily armed crowd of dark elves that lingered outside. He swore that he needed to purchase a bigger place.

They returned home early for the night. Don’t worry, though, they’ll be here early tomorrow as usual. Terren, Zackner, and I have been meeting them for pracenda each night. Nevertheless, both Jhael and Adria have been a tremendous help. I don’t remember ever having this many students.

Faust chuckled faintly as he crossed his hands over his chest. “Well, Markener, I hope that you do not mind one more. There is a favor that I was meaning to ask you ever since my visit to Imperia.” the dark elf smirked and rubbed his jaw as if reminded of the pain that had been inflicted upon him by that rough human. “I intend on being here in Vortex for awhile, and was hoping that you might help me with some things.

The Vysstichi Lord grinned almost sadistically as he gazed upon the young prince, obviously amused that Faust still did not consider himself the better despite his growing reputation throughout Telath.

Just don’t expect me to go easy on you. I may be getting older, but I assure you that I’m more than capable of beating you into a pulp, young prince.” the Vysstichi Lord’s grin widened even further, displaying his arrogance even further.

Faust innocently shrugged.

Speaking of which,” Markener continued, “Perhaps it is time that we truly find out where each of us stand. There can only be one Master of the Fitness and Bones, and frankly I’m quite interested to see which one of us that is.

Having been silent throughout the duration of the conversation, Valoryn exposed a bemused smirk. “You would be interested in that, Master Markener.

The owner of the Fitness and Bones shot a glare towards the armored general.

Sensing the tension betwixt the two proud warriors, Eryndyl was quick to intervene.

Then let us find out.” the Master Thaumaturgist suggested, “Amongst Master Markener, Lord Faust, Master Jhael, the Lady Adria, the Lady Terren, young Master Zackner, and even my brother, Valoryn, it would be interesting to see which one of you emerged as the greater warrior. Lord Faust’s father, too, would be a prime candidate capable of holding such a title. And I, for one, would be fascinated by determining the victor.

It is settled then.” Markener conceitedly concluded, “We will see soon enough.

For the duration of the night, the congregation of warriors familiarly exchanged stories of the past few seasons, enlightening the others on the occurrences that had transpired over the course of each of their adventures.

It was good to be home.

For the first time in patterns, the doors of the Fitness and Bones remained tightly locked and sealed. Centered upon the front entrance was a neatly fastened notice:

Quote:

The Fitness and Bones will be temporarily closed until the end of summer.

-First Cycle of Optia, Summer, Era III-
One hour after nightfall

In his patched black cloak, his patched dark clothing, and his rusty dagger by his side, the young vyystichi made his way to the Fitness and Bones Training Facility. With a pattern of being above ground under his belt, Solomon felt somewhat comfortable walking to the Training Facility from his shabby home in the filth of the Southern Quarter. Still haunted by his past memories, the dark-elf made his way inside with neither a smile nor frown upon his face, just a look of a focused individual. Not wanting to spend the money upon a new sword or dagger, Solomon thought it best for him to learned some form of hand to hand combat. After a bit of menial research, he saw it in his best interest to learn the ways Rhingorda . This was but the first step he would take down a long road to a goal he did not even know yet.

Grapping the attention of a tough looking dark-elf like himself, Solomon set his 200 crowns upon the front desk and cleared his throat before he spoke. "I am in need of basic Rhingorda training, perhaps you would be able to teach me?"

"Of course I'll able to teach you idiot, why else would this facililty be here if I didn't do just that! Rhingorda training will take a cycle and you'll be starting today. Put your things in the corner so we can begin." The vysstichi elder commanded as he two sets of hand wraps from underneath the desk. "The name is Markener, and you will call me thus child, now let's get started..."

ooc: I will be self-modding.

Kuro Kodiru is an upstanding Citizen
2nd of Optia, In the Season of Summer
Era XII Post Fractum, Era III of the Celestine Mandate
Morning

Kuro slipped into the Fitness and Bones, intent on completing the next tier of his training. He'd been practicing a good deal since Ponutis, using every spare moment that his job at Amalthea's afforded him. Just the day before, he'd gotten into his first life or death fight. The bandages on his left hand were still there, covering the results of that encounter, and what would likely become a nasty set of scars. He flexed his fingers as he approached the desk. The cuts were starting to burn. He hoped to Jalat that they wouldn't become infected.

Kuro was expecting to find Markener behind the counter at Fitness and Bones. Instead, he found another dark elf, who bore a resemblance to the swordmaster. He greeted the kemite as he approached, "Serale, I'm Zackner. What can I do for you?"

"Kuro Kodiru..." He replied, too distracted to make his customary introduction. And, always one to question his good fortune, Kuro had to ask, "I'm sorry, where is Markener?"

"My father." The dark elf replied with a tight smile. "He has to sleep at times, you know?"

"Ah..." Kuro shook himself out of his temporary reverie, and placed both hands on the counter. "Well, I'm here for intermediate training with the smallsword."

"That'll be four hundred crowns." As the dark elf said it, Kuro opened his belt pouch and reached in to retrieve four one hundred crown notes.

After laying them on the table, Zackner took them with a smile, filing them away in a little vault. "My father will begin your lesson tonight, at dusk. Don't be late."

"Oh, I won't." Kuro smiled, knowing full well what it meant to be late to a lesson at Fitness and Bones.

Sel'eldron Capac is an upstanding Citizen
Winter, First Cycle, Eighth Brightening, Kalendryas

The brightening before Sel had bought a sword and dagger at the halflings shop. While the looked well and good they were useless to the dark elf at the moment. This brightening he would began training with them and soon they would be more useful then just looking well and good. And so he was at the establishment known as the 'Fitness and Bones' training centre. It was here that he would begin his path of vengeance.

Entering the small building Sel took a moment to look around, taking in the place from under his robe. His attention quickly focused on a fellow vysstichi practising on a wooden dummy, his fists biting deep into the wood in strikes that Sel could only imagine the pain. After a moment the dark-elfs attention was changed from the practise dummy to Sel and he asked if he could help.

"I am looking to receive some training with a longsword," he told the fellow dark elf and waited for an answer.

"Do you have any prior training with it?" Gaveth asked him.

"No."

"I can teach you the basics for two hundred crowns, if that’s good we might as well start right now."

And that was that, with a light nod, Sel reached into his robe and pulled out his purse. Counting out four fifty crown notes he handed them over to his instructor. His purse was becoming dangerously light now; a total of forty crowns weighed it down. He was going to have to go looking for some real soon. That thought aside, Sel followed Gaveth through the building to the back where he would begin his training.

Rak had finally gotten a bit of free time from the cult, and decided that he would journey to Fitness and Bones to see if he could procure a bit of time to start learning the basics of a form of combat art to coincide with his learnings of the necromantic arts. As he entered, he looked at the forms that he could start learning, and recognized only one. Shaasskah. It was a form created by two well known saurids. That would be the one he would take, and learn. Just the basics for now thought. As he made his way up to the receptionist, whom doubled as a teacher, he looked up towards him, and said, "I'sssss would like basssssic training in Shaasskah..."

The man looked at him almost quizzically, and then said, "Sure, we can start tomorrow... that will be two hundred crowns..." The dark saurid gasped at how expensive things were here, but then took out the two hundred crowns, and passed it over to him. Nodding, he agreed to meet back there in the morning of the next brightening so that he could learn the arts of Shaasskah...
