Tough Hide Armory
The local armor maker was situated in the central business district of Vortex. This didn't please everybody in the area, as the smell of the chemicals used to in the process of making hide was as sharp as it was putrid, and this disturbing smell was aloft in the air and could be sensed even before the approach of the building. Near the building a huge sign was draped over the door where it was being rocked back and forth with slight creaks at the wind’s mercy. The Tough Hide Armory was the name on the sign along with a picture of an elf in a formidable looking leather breastplate.
The owner was an orc tanner but considered himself to be as good as any human in his trade and usually stood outside, next to the entrance. He wore highly ornate troll skin armor, and was a walking advertisement for the skill of his family. Behind him was the brightly lit interior of the shop with many pieces of armor around the walls and on stands.
Shoes, leather bags, scabbards and belts were also available here.
There were also pelts being readied for tanning all stretched out across two very large wooden poles, it was a difficult process but allot of times hunters came and had him make furs from there catches. Though the Orc never kept these it was not unusual for a big game hunter to be seen making requests for her services before plans of a big hunt. Many times these pelts were sold in separate market stalls, however it was not an unreasonable to think that if you had killed an animal for the right price he could make you fur goods or trim an article of clothing or armor with it.
He called out to the passing crowd in a thundering voice that spoke of a good education.
"Serale, my friends. Do you ever feel you need more protection in today’s Empire? Has that rusty chainmail seen better days? Come right in and pick up the best hide armor in the Arium Directorate. We've got something for you, whoever you are."
His voice seemed to generate a fair bit of business, as there seemed to be always at least one customer in the store which for the most part was probably a hunter making an advanced notice.

Reldass entered the store, his eyes scanning the armor's that hung around the place quickly. Finally he settled on one, indeed that would do him fine. He would need the protection for what his goals were. Though he figured that it would not really matter for his first stop.
"Serale, indeed, I need a suit of elven chain mail"
The orc looked at the Vysstichi and nodded pulling out a suit of the right quality and size,
"1000 crowns"
Reldass felt it was like robbery, but he paid it anyways, not really caring about the money, he would have it soon enough anyways.
Taking the chain mail he strapped it on and was off and out of the shop right away.

The esh'lahier walked into the shop, browsing amongst the armors and shields for something in paticular.
"Serale, I would like one studded leather shirt and one leather shirt."
The orc grunted in distaste as he pulled out the requested items."That'll be 95 crowns, so hurry up and pay me."
The esh'lahier looked at the orc with impatients and gave him the money. He took his things and departed.

Seeming to come in from out of the shadows, Ahmahd came up to the front counter and paused for a second, searching the area for the clerk. "Ah, there you are. Serale there, may I get a bit of a gander at your shirts?" The clerk had pointed over at a display sign in which the prices had been placed. "Hmmm...that's good, I figure I will take the chainmail shirt over yonder, also, I want it colored onyx." The large Orc walked casually to the hanging mail and grasped it oh so tightly 'till the Dracon paid up. "Here you are", spoke both creatures in exchange with one another. Ahmahd had taken off his tunic and placed his set of armor apon his broad shoulders and rerobed his tunic in order to hide his mail underneath. As the Dracon was walking out, he spun back around remembering what he had really needed to get done. "Hold on a second there Orc!, I am in great need of a job; could you perhaps place me as an employee here at your shop of armory?" The Dracon, nervous of the Orc's response, had stood upright, waiting for the large creatures answer.

Querslis came into the armory, and walked up to the clerk, and asked for the following item. The clerk found one that he thought would fit her, and she tried it on. She was pleased with the how it looked and put her items into the pouches, and paid the clerk thirty five crowns for it, then left the armory...
large Leather Belt with pouches around it ~ 35 Crowns
Total amount due ~ 35 crowns

After entering the city,Taran noticed how dangerous it was and knew he needed more protection. He had heard the place to go was the Tough Hide Armory. He eventually found his way and walked into the shop. After a small wait in a line he walked up to get his order taken.
"Serale, my name is Taran Kamari.I'm here hoping to get a suit of armor in these troubling times.A full suit of black leather armor will do."
"Serale,a black suit of leather armor you say? That will be 90 crowns due to the coloring. Is that all?"The orc said.
"No actually, could I get a small leather belt with pouches around it.And also a leather backback."
"Ok then, the total will come to 150 crowns.Stay here while I get everything."A few minutes later he came back with everything."Here you are enjoy your stay in Vortex if it is possible."the orc said,
"I'll do my best."Taran said as he handed over the crowns. He then strapped on the armor and put the backpack on.He then walked out of the door.

Eldire walked into the shop, and proceeded to the front desk. After careful consideration, Eldire handed over 1850 crowns, and took a full troll hide suit, as well as a wood and troll hide cheild. Paying for his merchandise, Eldrie turned around and proceeded out of the door, and into the wonderous city.

Indigo walks into the shop and looks over the wares displayed and looks at the orc "i will need a chain mail shirt, hide greaves, and hide leggings" Indigo drops a small sack on the table containing the nessasary gold for the transaction "i will also need a sheath for my claymore" Indigo drops another small sack onto the counter "this should cover it" indigo says waiting for his things to be brought to him. The orc opened the bags and counted the gold inside and once he was satisfied that it was all there he gave indigo his things and watched him leave

Throghout his whole escpae from his enslavment, Kanye felt unprotected. He didn't like that, and he was going to change it. He asked a few people on the streets of this dark city about where to go for such a problem, and they all pointed him to this location. he was promptly greeted as he walked through the front door.
"Serale master orc, could I purchase a suit of blackened leather." Kanye said as he withdrew his coin purse. He counted out 100 crowns and laid them on the table."This should cover it."Kanye said partly under his breath. The orc quickly took measurments all over his body. He then went to the back and got the equipment. He laid them on the table for Kanye to examine.
"Yes, these will do, serale orc." Kanye said as he fitted the leather over his body. It fit very nicely, not restricitng movement at all. With a slight nod, he again fitted his cloak hood over his head and walked back into the streets of Vortex.

Rincewin needed a new suit of armour -his dusty black leather was old and worn. It had also born the brunt of many an assault. It was due to replacement not just because it smelled, but because it was about to come apart. It was the only thing he really wore these days -he had no other clothing.
So he went to the armour shop. It was laughably simple, this purchasing items with money. However, there was one prerequisite : having money. He considered stealing what he needed or murdering them, but he decided that he could do without that, because this time, he actually had money. Fidelis had, afteral, paid him the rest of what was his due. And Rincewin needed this. It was a valid expense.
He had inquired before, and it was advised to him that Troll Leather was what he needed. Flexible and light, yet durable enough to withstand heavy blows. In fact, it sounded like it was exactly what he needed. He had tried plate before, but it had quickly become obvious that that didn't suit his needs. It was way, way too cumbersome. He was an agile warrior that required something he could move freely in. He was an acrobatic swordsman who could not do with impediments to his movement.
So, Troll leather it was.
A whole suit for fifteen hundred. More than a tenth of what he possessed, but it was worth the investment. He was going to go up against Dragonliches and their kin, afteral. Rincewin pain up like a good citizen and mentioned his guildname -Brothers in Arms- for he might have someone negotiate deals with weapon merchants so they could buy in bulk for their members. Something like that.
He left. Suited up and ready to go.

Paradigm Shift: Alleria Prime Opens and the new Empire is revealed as Audrey adresses the peoples
Month of Immanis
Third Cycle
The putrid stench of chemically treated and drying hide hung harshly in the air as Olvann slowly crept down the street. The central business district of Vortex was bustling with merchants, salesmen and thieves alike. He kept close watch on a rather rugged looking man standing ominously in the doorway of a stone building. He supposed that most of the people standing around here looked suspicious, but Olvann had carefully secreted his purse deep within the folds of his healer’s cloak.
Three cycles he had been in vortex without any bodily protection. Three cycles too long. He was surprised he had not been stabbed yet, this city was certainly not for the light of heart. Olvann had learnt that quickly. Naive to the ways of the world, he was no longer. Stepping into the morass of deceit, theft and murder that was the stagnant pool of Vysstichi civilization that had left him with no opinions contrary to those of his dead father.
He had decided after purchasing weapons that despite his extremely toned physique and lightning reflexes that he would likely not always be able to completely avoid being touched by a weapon. He had decided on purchasing leather armor, as he had never relied on his brute strength to give him an advantage, but rather his extremely agile reflexes. Leather armor derived from the hide of a troll, was supposedly the armor he was looking for. He’d heard of a steel armor shop in the pit of Har’oloth but again decided against it.
He slipped into the acrid environment of the Tough Hide Armory. An Orc stood lightly behind a desk displaying many fine pieces of his craft. It was evident that the Orc was the armor smith, as he wore a fine arrangement of troll hide armor. “Serale..” He greeted with a rough voice that spoke of at least some schooling. Olvann smiled and nodded, quite aware of the Orc’s gaze. He went about, examining the pieces of armor and finally, assured that he would not find what he was looking for, approached the orc. He’d had an idea of exactly what he’d needed prior to entering the shop.
“Serale, I’m looking for something special. I am in need of troll skin shin guards and forearm bracers. I also would like to requisition a troll skin breastplate, but I have a few specifications.” Olvann said, pausing to assure himself that the Orc had understood what he was saying. He had never been one to like anything fancy, he had very simple functional things, but he supposed he could customize his things slightly to a functional end. “I’d like to have thin flexible Elven steel plates in the shin and forearm guards.” He creased his brow and added. “I’d also like them along the ribbings of the breastplate, and could you dye the troll skin a very deep crimson, almost black?” He concluded with a smile. “Could you do that? How much would it cost? The steel can be purchased from the Elegant Blades I’m sure…”

The orc observed the man that walked into his store with a speculative eye, he wondered to himself, what would a light skin be doing in his store, or in Vortex for that matter. But as long as the light skin brought business then the orc wouldn't complain. After all, he was becoming very wealthy these past cycles, especially with the noted increase in crime. Everyone seemed to be in need of armor now a days and leather was one of the most flexible and durable out there, so he had no qualms about starting his business. And now, with all the crowns pouring in, he felt like a king in his throne, which in turn put him in a very good mood.
"Right, well let me see," he said as he walked behind the counter and went in through a door behind him, taking a quick peek and pulling out a few materials along with the items Olvann had asked for. There was luckily a supply of what the man asked for because the orc was in no mood with negotiating with the other stores. It was all about him and his business, he hated being in debt or anything else for that matter which was why he barely ever accepted favors.
"Your a lucky kid, we have everything you asked for but it's going to cost you. I say this bunch here totals up to 2,150 crowns. Think you have enough? The breastplate is 1,450 crowns with the additions. The bracers are 360 crowns with the changes and the shin guards are 340 crowns with the changes. If you have any problems with the price then say them now but I doubt I'll change them for you" he said, pushing the items up to the man with a greedy glimmer in his eyes.

Olvann listened stoically to the Orc as he rallied off his prices. Olvann truly had no real budget, as with his loan from the Bank and the impending launch of his business, he was more than well off. These simple necessities would endure for quite a while before he would have to replace them, he supposed that it was worth spending a reasonably high price for high quality armor, rather than having to replace or repair low quality armor later.
Finding the figures acceptable, he simply stated, "Done, but for that price, they better fit like a second skin." He followed the statement with a flash of bright teeth and a chuckle. Placing one banknote for a thousand crowns and shifting through a purse to place seventy-five crowns on the desk beside the note, he questioned the Orc, "Half now, half after, when will my order be ready?"
He waited for the answer of the armor smith, nodded, gave the Orc his thanks and exited the armory.
