Tallis Kait is unknown and forgotten
The search for destiny~ open

Ponutis Era XV

“ ’Ere you go guv as juicy and sweet as they come“ …….“Guv!” The Vysstichi had nearly put his hand on his rapier at the insult, he had almost drawn the blade and stuck it into the humans eye …“Guv” was no way to address a pure blood “my lord” or at the very least “sir”. The delicately boned fingers had flexed above the hilt of the weapon for an instance but in the busy market it would not do to brawl with a scrofulous human apple seller. No one would care if the filthy creature died but …it was …so undignified! Thus the apple seller was free to breathe good Vortex air for a few more candlemarks, the knowledge that its life had been weighed in the balance and found wanting as yet unknown to the inferior species.

Tallis Kait had to agree with the human the apple was sweet and good he normally did not demean himself by eating in the street it was so …low born but he had left the house early that brightening and he was hungry so lurking deep in the shadows he finished the fruit with neat precise bites of his white sharp teeth. The apple was reduced to a core, his stomach was filled but not his anger at the insult. He rolled the still juicy core inn his fingers and then bent swiftly at the knees to rub the core in the sharp dirt of Vortex holding the disgusting core delicately between finger and thumb he measured the distance between himself and the human and with a deft flick of his fingers spun the missile across the busy market.

The end result had some element of pleasure, the apple seller screamed and clutched his face, blood poured from his eye socket. Tallis slipped away into the shadows honour was restored a small victory maybe but one that had merit!

Tallis Kait had led a typical Vysstichi childhood deep in the warm darkness of the city of Har'oloth. He grew up without being remarkable. He was neither evil nor particularly good, he worshiped the same gods as his siblings learned his lessons neither showing great talent or such lack of intellect that would have marked him for an early death as being below the expectations of the demanding Vysstichi race.

He grew tall and lithe his white hair fell to the base of his back and the dark red eyes of his race were never still noting and filing the minutia of his life away. Tallis was taciturn as a youth rarely speaking until addressed and even then his replies were terse and to the point as if he was hiding his real self away from his peers . He respected the order of things paid due and proper respect to his matron supported his house and was considered a model if somewhat quiet Vysstichi.

Yet deep within his calculating heart lurked an unvoiced ambition. The strict structure of Vysstichi life chaffed, he understood that traditionally the matron led the houses, he had no problem with that …it was the Vysstichi way! But there was one element of the strict traditionalism that he railed against .His career path as a male swordsman , elementalist or sorcerer felt too restricting, he was drawn to the dark arts, the forbidden road of the necromancer, to play with death and command the legions of the damned seemed to the youthful elf to be his way, his dreadful calling! But for that to happen the Vysstichi was going to have to find a renegade tutor to teach him the dark arts!

Whether such a soul existed within the confines of Vortex he had yet to discover but he would try and find his master and break the suffocating tradition that bound him!

Thus he walked the high streets of Vortex his head down avoiding the worst excess of sunlight that anathema to his race watching through partially slit eyes for any clue as to his destiny. Alone in the bustling streets, he avoided all contact with the inferior races that thronged the thoroughfares but aware as he passed member of his own special race, giving a nod or a small bow depending upon the slight nuances of rank that dictated the life of the Vysstichi.

Tallis Kait was not looking for company but if such should arrive then perhaps he might give them the time of his day.

Areka D'Rinishad is unknown and forgotten
Areka pushed open the door of the D'Rinishad Academy and let red eyes gaze at all who happened to be walking in the streets near by. Pulling her gloves more snug around her small hands she stopped and ponder if she wished to walk or ride today. Deciding that walking would suit her just fine she stepped out into the brightening, cursing softly under her breath at the light. Taking her waist length hair into her hands she pulled and tucked it back before pulling the hood of the winter cloak up and over her head. The winter cloak she bore was nothing special, simple, black, warm, custom fit for her, and it supported the symbol Montran, meaning change, which had become the symbol for House D'Rinishad.

Proceeding to move down the front steps she was quit aware that Zarmond, she had started to call him Zar for short, was close enough behind just in case he was needed. She had not spoken to Zar much and he her, they were both...or seemed to be happy with the quietness that had formed between them. Once she reached the bottom of the steps she took a slight turn making way to where the horses were kept. Slipping in quietly she found her horse and smiled as she took a carrot out of the bag provided and fed it to the horse. She whisper sweet nothings into his ear. Today was the day that she had finally come up with a name for her horse who had been so loyal to her since the day she was given him. Giving a gentle smile Zar would hear her utter the word Iris quietly before letting the horse finish the carrot then turning to move out into the streets of Vortex.

It was a day like so many before, she simply was out to watch and learn the daily routine of the citizens. She moved though the streets moving slowly as she took in the sights of the day, most of them the same as before and some of them new. Areka moved to a bench which sat outside a shop and sat down. As always Zar had decided to stand to the side of the bench in silence. As she watched she held rather still, there wasn't much need for movement though at points in time she would swing her feet back in forth being as they just dangled there. After candelmark passes something interesting had caught her eye. A young man, who appeared to be vyssie. She watched the exchange with a slight look of amusement. Once the the vysstichi had decided to move on she quickly hopped up from the bench and darted off across the streets to follow the man. The sudden movement was not one Zar was accustomed to from the vyssie child and was startled for a moment before following in long strides behind her.

Areka didn't make her presence known she just followed behind the man. She watched his movements, they way he walked, the way he held himself and the way he lowered his eyes a bit just as she had and still does. Judging by this she figured he was not used the surface or rather refused, much as she did, to let her eyes become used tot he rays of the suns. She tried to be as stealth as possible as she tracked him wondering just where he was going and why.

If Tallis was aware that he had a tail he made no sign his steady careful precise progress through the upper streets of Vortex continued. The Vysstichi hugged the shadows moving from dark spot to dark spot with ease and grace. He was slim to the point of starvation, his long white hair was secured at his temple with a simple metal band , his clothes were grey enough to be called near black nothing expensive in the fashion of the high born but well cut well made apparel. His soft grey ankle boots made little sound as he walked the streets. The plain rapier hung on his back was a warning to the lesser born but in truth Tallis had little skill with this blade that was another thing on his personal agenda he would master the blade and deal revenge on the lesser races wherever the opportunity presented itself but for the moment the blade would stay in the sheath over his shoulder.

Tallis stopped outside the Fitness and Bones Training school and read the notice making a mental note that he would make further enquiries in a few brightenings time about learning how to use the rapier. It was while his attention was directed towards the notice of prices and fees that his sharp ears picked up a the quiet slap of footsteps a pair of footsteps one light and barely audible the other heavier plodding but in unison with each other.

Tallis ever aware of the alien nature of the sunlit world of Vortex turned his head so his peripheral vision, ever poor in this damnable excess of light, caught a glimpse of two people but before he could recover properly they had slipped away into the press of people milling around. Tallis had played deadly games of hide and seek in the darkness of the caverns of Har’oloth as a youngster and his instincts honed for survival were alerted.

If there was someone on his tail they had better be good the Vysstichi was now on his guard.

He slipped away from the gym hugging the shadows again but this time looking for any advantage point that might afford him a glimpse of his pursuers if indeed they existed in the flesh and not simply confined to his imagination.

OOC: Sorry man got side tracked..

IC:

The child broke away from Zar a bit. She kept the shadows those around her were giving off. Her steps became lightly as she moved in and out of the people keeping an eye on the one she followed. Areka began to use the bodies of everyone as hiding post. It appeared as if she were playing the child's game of hide and seek. But in this sense she was trying to be as silent, as sneaky ans as stealth as possible. When he turned his body in a way that would allow him to see her she would try to slip out of view. Once she actually stopped and turned to a stand, as if interested in a purchase of some fruit, before a street vender so as not to give herself away.

When he stopped at the Fitness and Bones Training school she wondered if he intended to take up a new weapon or advance in the training of the one he bore. Still she followed him. Time went on and he just kept walking. At one point she thought she might have been spotted but he did not make any real hint that he knew she was there so continued to keep up her little game. Since she was not great at being stealth and sneekish she kept what she felt was a safe enough distance away from him but close enough not to lose him in the mass of people that were about.
