[Gryphon Compound - Western Complex] New Request - (Mod Please)
33rd of Melora, Winter, Era I of the Celestial Mandate, Era XV Post Fractum.
It was approaching evening and the second son of the Adsa was calmly waiting in one of the central rooms of his family’s estate. He had been summoned here, but for what reason he couldn’t say. He believed it would be another clan thing or something like that. It wasn’t often he was called somewhere for any other reason. He had his normal calm air about him, but the whole idea was slightly irritating. Kasumi could only pray that the task they asked of him wouldn’t go against his beliefs, though it was more likely to be pointless. Over the years he had done many things that were beyond pointless, but supposedly they helped the clan. He for one preferred such tasks anyway.
The room he waited in wasn’t the most humble room, but with the nature of his family it was to be expected. It didn’t really bother him. He was more concerned with other things than the way things looked. Maybe if he became head of the family he’d ask someone to tone it down a bit, but that was still a little further away. After all even if he did get the position his elder sisters would probably still keep control of the family. They obviously quite liked their position and wouldn’t be so quick to give in. All of this was of little concern to him at the moment. The upcoming task would have to take precedence of his future.

Gilded. The Gryphon clan was notorious for its gilding, that much was for sure. Velvet, gold, and ornate black enamel was the central theme in the room today. The meeting was a standard one, with his father Lord Ansai Adsa and his first wife Vianisa attending. Vianisa poured tea while an adviser took notes. It was a seemingly casual affair, well perhaps as casual as the Gryphon clan ever partook in. Lord Ansai was there for one reason, and one reason only... he was about to instruct his son and bring about a very important alliance to eliminate some conflict that seemed completely inherent in the Gryphon and Dragon Clan interactions.
Lord Ansai had a miniature set on the table of a very lovely young woman who had the distinct characteristics of a Dragon Clan daughter. High arching eyebrows, soft sleek lines and perfectly coiffed hair. She looked, pristine, though there was indeed something fiery in her eyes. "It is good that you join us today, Kasumi. You know, as first son, you have an obligation to the family. This obligation includes marrying well and producing heirs." He stated flat out, as Vianisa, unnoticed laid out sweet almond drops in tiny plates before each man.
"I've selected you a bride. She's comely, and I've had it on good authority that she is intelligent. But like all Dragons, she's willful and needs a firm hand." Just last cycle, that firm hand had included a raid by Lord Ansai and his branch of the family against clan Dragon where several prisoners were taken. One was exchanged dead, and that was enough to allow the rest to go back with ransom. So this... announcement was something of a shock to Kasumi, who had indeed partook of that raid, leading a small group of men on his own.
Vianisa smiled slightly, pleased that a new girl would come into the family, and indeed her son would marry well. It wasn't a Gryphon, but it was indeed a high ranking clan. "As such, you will sit down and draw up a list of your requirements and what you would like included in her brideprice. We have already met with her, inspected her, and found her appropriate earlier in the month. She is, however, a little rough. But it will be up to you to decide what you wish to offer for her as a groom price. I have a feeling they will let her go for next to nothing since it is a Gryphon she will be marrying... but as such, you will be required to meet with her, and decide for yourself how much of our wealth you want to part with to pick her up. Her bloodline has been researched and there is no noted deformities or flaws in that line." His father stated flat out. Part of a man's rite of passage was negotiating for his wife, especially the first, and Kasumi would be no different.
"So, how would you like to meet her? I will loan you my secretary Avisna to dictate any missives you'd like to send. We want this marriage wrapped up and over with in two cycles. " That too wasn't a surprise. Second or third wives were not such a big deal, but the first one was always a tricky situation. Kasumi would have to write out his lists of demands, arrange a meeting with the girl, decide if his demands were reasonable, and then submit them to her parents and wait for their counter offer. Once that was done and an agreement was reached between the two, they would be married in the eyes of Torek at the temple. Always, the bride was paid for, and the groom was given a price in exchange for his payment. It was an odd system, but one that often ended in the exchange of family relics, trade alliances, and rare blooded horses.

((OOC: Not sure if the first wife is Kasumi's mother but I played it as if she is. Iif that isn't the case I'll just change out mother with her name.))
Kasumi was absent-mindedly playing with a small carved piece, possibly from one of the games he played, while waiting for the meeting to start. He was wearing clothes that suited him at the time. Loose-fitting yet with enough class it gave a wealthy appearance. It was common for him to wear this sort of clothing around the Western Complex. Kasumi wore what was required of him in most cases, but at home there was little need. Whether this was common amongst the family, or just his taste, didn’t really matter.
He took slight observations of what was happening around him, though until his father would start instructing Kasumi on what the family, or what the clan wanted from him, he wouldn’t make too many assumptions. One of the ones he had come up with was that this would involve the Dragon Clan, since he they seemed to be on odd terms as of late. The young Adsa had even led a small group of his own in a raid just recently. Maybe the clan had decided to do things politically. Kasumi didn’t think his mother would be here if it was just another raid he would be requested to participate in. He would probably prefer something as simple as a raid over the misguided politics of the clans, but it would be better for the two in the long run.
The meeting began fairly promptly and after the first line from his father, he knew what was going to happen. It seems the family intended to sell the position of Kasumi first wife to Dragons to settle this conflict completely. He couldn’t be sure that was the case, but he had a strong feeling it would be something like that. The next line confirmed his assumptions. A simple smile appeared on his lips. He was obviously quite amused with the idea of taking a wife, even if he didn’t know her. The fact that it would end some conflict with the Dragons for a short period of time didn’t concern him. He was more interested in what value she had to offer him. He trusted his father and mother wouldn’t give him a failure for his first wife, maybe a lower level member of the clan, but not him. He would find this out for sure in a few days when they would meet.
He listened to the rest of what they had to say before doing anything. Whether his interest in this was genuine not even he could tell, but this could be fun to say the least. At best it would give him a significant connection to another powerful clan. If there was anything he desired it would be power. “I trust you have selected a fine woman for me, father.” Kasumi look at his father as if to judge him. The young Adsa wouldn’t be happy taking a failure as a wife. “I will make use of your secretary, but until the message is to be delivered, I won’t need her.” Kasumi got up from the floor, and headed to leave the room. He turned around to give a few last words, “I’ll deliver the message to Anvisna when it is written. And father, mother, you know I’m not the type to fail. She will be my wife within the next two cycle, without a doubt.” He then left the room.
He entered his room and went straight to a short table in the far corner. On the table was all he’d need to write out his requests. A little preparation was required, but within a few minutes he was ready to put ink to paper. He had put the game piece he was randomly carrying around with him on his desk.
Lord Haido Gicha,
I request to meet the lady that my father has chosen to be my first wife. On this visit I would also like to speak with you concerning matters about the wedding such as a price for your daughter, and what you are willing to offer in return. If these details are to your liking then I shall come to the Dragon Complex at midday on the 35th of Melora. If not please inform the messenger of a time that suits you within the cycle.
From Kasumi Adsa

He had finished writing what he wanted to send. It was fairly simple and kept most things silent. He would meet with this daughter and then the father to discuss the trade, if everything went as planned. Before that could happen he had to send out the message. Kasumi carried the beautifully written letter out to Anvisna. “Take this to the Dragon Clan Complex, and read its contents to Haido Gicha, and get his response. Inform me when you get back.” He requested after giving her the message. He then returned to room to pass the time while waiting for his response.
