[Luduan Statue] My Eyes...They Have Seen (Private)
10th Candlemark, 2nd cycle, Ioannolia, 13th Brightening, Cryxatum, season of Spring
The sounds of pebbles crunched under the weight of the cether's feet. He slowly made his way down the streets of Zinn'Sunn. Normally his step would have been livelier, but trying to maneuver through the throngs of people in the blackness before his eyes was a feat he had not gotten accustomed to as of yet. His dagger slapped at his thigh. His bird companion made her merry noise while clutching tightly to his left shoulder.
At least people where being were being nice, in a way, to the blind halfling. Eldrew had tied a piece of crimsoned colored cloth across his eyes. He had figured it would help in letting others know why he fumbled around awkwardly. He was pleased with the guards that spun him in the right direction when he asked. Now it was only a matter of time before he would reach his destination.
Spring was definitely in the air. The aromas filled his nostrils and caused his mouth to water at more than one occasion. The warmth of the sun made him pleased that he had dressed correctly for the day. That was just something else he was getting used to. Luckily for him he still had the same outfit he wore daily. Tan breeches, white shirt, brown leather boots.
The final guard he passed escorted him to the entrance. He was thanked for his service and walked away. The guards footsteps were heavy Eldrew thought. Must be weighed down with all that armor.
The path was at least straight. The cether carefully continued down it's length. Off in the distance he could swear he heard someone. "Hello," his voiced seemed to die as if it had gotten trapped. "Hello, is there someone here that can help me." The hawk on his shoulder gave out a high pitch cry.

Eldrew's ears had been right. He had indeed heard someone, and they were coming towards him. To judge from the footfalls, it sounded like an older person or persons. The soft, shuffling gate mixed with the muffling robes indicated a monk, maybe, but certainly someone in traditional Kemite dress. To complicate matters, there was the occasional vibration on the ground of a staff, or a walking stick of some sort, being used for support.
"Hello, young traveler," Sojourner spoke slowly to the Cether. "Can I help you?" he noted the cloth around the Halfling's eyes. He was an old man. He'd seen a lot of things in his lifetime, and this was not the first time, nor would it be the last, probably, that he had seen a blind one needing a hand. Eyes tended to fade with age, after all, and sometimes his own weren't so perfect any more.
"What do you seek?"

Eldrew's head turned toward the voice. He was still getting accustomed to his lack of sight. Since arriving in Zinn'Sunn, his life had been turned upside down. Why? Why did he leave Natura. None of this would have happened. He was so stupid to have journeyed in the winter. If it wasn't for that elf, he would have died.
His double vision was a nuisance. He would never have been able to become a ranger with it. But he drank the potion and his sight was now gone. The little voice, his friend, his hawk, echoed in his mind. "Ask. Ask." The side-effect. A blessing or curse. His ability to now talk with his hawk. And where was she now? his mind asked.
His breathing was heavy. The palms of his tiny hands began to sweat. He was sent to ask. To find. To obtain. His feet crunched the ground as he walked closer to the voice.
"I am here to seek someone that could help my get my sight back." His voice sounded strong, stronger than it had in the last month.
OOCJust know I would like the sight to be through my hawk's eyes. Abuse me any way you want.

OOCNot to worry, I did remember reading that in the OOC thread. :)
Sojourner tapped the ground with his walking stick as the Cether came his way to help him find out where the old man was, through vibrations on the ground and towards the Statue. "Are you now? You have come to the Luduan Statue... perhaps it can help you."
The Kemite led Eldrew towards the Statue. "The power, you see, is in the horn. People kiss its toes, unwilling to sacrifice. You cut yourself, just enough to make it bleed, and touch that to the horn. As you do, you tell the Statue a secret. The more painful the secret, the bigger the reward for confessing it. I will leave you to it... but before I go, will you need a hand?" He had led Eldrew right up to the base of the Statue, and guided the Halfling's hand to touch the Statue's shoulder.
